What Happened over the Summer

Our campus vision continued moving forward this summer, even in the quieter months.

The most significant development is on the funding side. This spring, we shared that we were pursuing a grant to help offset costs on our property. We've since formally applied for the grant, and that application is now in its final stages of confirmation. We're hopeful for clarity soon and will share the outcome as it comes.

We're also in the late stages of working with the City on two fronts: securing our site's inclusion in the Neighbourhood Structure Plan and removing the Wetlands designation currently on the property. Both are necessary steps for our vision to move forward, and we anticipate attending a City Council meeting this fall to bring this process to completion.

We've continued listening closely to what came out of our May town hall conversations. As we shared in our last update, parking and site congestion were the most consistent concerns raised. In response, we've been exploring a revised approach that reduces the overall number of units planned across the site, while increasing the proportion designated as affordable housing. Together, these adjustments aim to honour the feedback we’ve received while keeping the project financially viable and true to its mission.

Alongside all this, we've continued advancing our environmental and geotechnical assessments, working closely with our architect and consultants. These studies remain a necessary foundation before development can move forward, and that work has continued steadily through the summer.

We're grateful for your continued engagement with where God is leading our church and our property, and for your prayers as we move into this next season.

Prayer Items

  • Grant Confirmation: Pray for clarity and favor as our grant application moves through its final stages.

  • City Approvals: Pray for a smooth process as we work toward Neighbourhood Structure Plan inclusion and removal of the Wetlands designation, and for favor at this fall's City Council meeting.

  • Wisdom in Planning: Pray for discernment as we finalize a model that reduces overall unit count while increasing affordable housing, honoring both the concerns we heard and the vision we're pursuing.

  • Assessments Underway: Pray that the environmental and geotechnical work would proceed smoothly and give our architect and consultants the clarity needed for the next phase.
